Today we put our first, and oldest cat to sleep. He was almost 14 years old and we got him on Valentines day, James got him for me shortly after we started dating. He has been through so much with us both. He was our first "baby" before we had babies (of the human kind haha) and we are so sad to see him go. He will be very missed in this household.
Tobie was the best cat, he was so great with all the kids and our other cats. He put up with all our moves and while he had his moments we really couldn't of asked for a better kitty. As he got older he just started having a hard time moving around, James and I started talking about when the time would come if we had to put him down. The Dr confirmed what we had thought, likely kidney failure due to old age. So after much thought over the past few weeks, today was the day.
We have another kitty who we had to put down in 2005 due to major health problems. Chandlers was his name. We know Tobie will find Chandler and they will play in kitty heaven together.
We will miss you Tobie. Thank you for a long and wonderful 14 years.
Edited to add: Wyatt asked me again this afternoon about Tobie. Its going to be a slow process explaining to him. So I just stated again "Tobie is in Kitty Heaven!" and Wyatt thought for a moment and then asked "Petco?" :) Toooo sweet!
